Quick answer
Monthly DiamondGlow produces meaningfully better long-term skin quality than quarterly treatments — 3 to 4 times the visible improvement for 3 times the session count. The compounding effect is nonlinear because skin health builds on itself across the 28-day renewal cycle. Monthly is the right cadence for oily, congested, or event-facing skin. Quarterly works for dry mature skin or clients with excellent home routines. Membership pricing (~$225/month at Bravo MedSpa) makes the monthly option roughly $300 cheaper per year than paying per session.
Why the compounding isn't linear
If three DiamondGlows produced three times the result of one, the monthly vs quarterly question would be simple math. But skin quality doesn't work that way. Each session builds on the skin state the previous session created — which means skipping two out of three sessions doesn't just reduce results by two-thirds. It resets the compounding effect repeatedly.
The 28-day skin renewal cycle is the critical number. Skin cells at the basal layer migrate to the surface over roughly 28 days before being shed. Monthly DiamondGlow hits each cycle at the optimal point — the previous treatment has fully played out, the skin has rebuilt, and the new session catches the skin at its best baseline to push it further. Quarterly treatments skip two or three full renewal cycles between sessions, which means the skin has largely reverted to pre-treatment baseline by the time the next session arrives.
The practical result: monthly clients at the 12-month mark have skin quality that quarterly clients never reach. Not because monthly does "more" per session — it doesn't — but because monthly builds a layered foundation that quarterly can't match.
The cost math, honestly
Let's look at the actual dollars across a year.
Quarterly DiamondGlow: 4 sessions × $250/session = $1,000/year.
Monthly DiamondGlow (membership): 12 months × $225/month = $2,700/year.
Monthly DiamondGlow (pay-per-session): 12 × $250 = $3,000/year.
The delta between quarterly and monthly is $1,700 to $2,000 per year. That's not trivial. The question isn't whether monthly costs more — it does. The question is whether the 3 to 4× improvement in long-term skin quality is worth the 2.7 to 3× cost increase.
For most clients whose primary reason for doing facials is visible skin quality (oily skin, acne history, camera-visibility), the answer is yes. For clients whose skin is already good and they're doing facials for general wellness, quarterly is usually the honest answer.
Who monthly is for
The monthly cadence genuinely produces better results for specific skin profiles:
- Oily or congested skin. Pore clearance is cycle-dependent. Monthly keeps pores from re-congesting; quarterly lets them re-fill between sessions.
- Active acne or recent acne history. Monthly DiamondGlow with the SkinMedica Clarifying serum is one of the most effective non-prescription acne-management tools. Quarterly is inadequate for active cases.
- Clients in camera-visible careers. TV, video presenters, realtors shooting property videos, social media personalities. The visible quality difference between quarterly and monthly skin is the difference between "fine" and "consistently great" on camera.
- Event-heavy calendars. If you have 6 or more photography-heavy events per year, monthly keeps your skin at consistent peak rather than rebuilding every time.
- Fitzpatrick I to III with sun damage. Hyperpigmentation responds to consistent monthly brightening serums in ways quarterly doesn't match.
Who quarterly is appropriate for
Quarterly cadence works fine — and the cost difference isn't justified — for several client profiles:
- Dry mature skin with good home routines. If you're already using prescription retinol, good SPF, and quality moisturiser daily, quarterly professional treatments maintain what you're doing at home.
- Low-maintenance clients. Some people genuinely don't want to block out a monthly appointment. That's fine — quarterly is a reasonable middle ground.
- Budget-constrained clients. If $2,000+ per year isn't in the budget, quarterly beats not doing it at all.
- Post-intensive maintenance. Clients who've completed our 6-week Bravo Glow intensive protocol often drop to quarterly maintenance afterward — they've banked a reserve of skin improvement that quarterly upkeep can sustain.
For these profiles, monthly doesn't produce enough additional benefit to justify the cost. Quarterly is honest pricing for honest results.
The Bravo MedSpa membership structure
Our monthly membership pricing runs approximately $225 per month and includes:
- One monthly DiamondGlow session with seasonally-adjusted serum selection.
- Discounted retail pricing on SkinMedica professional products.
- Priority booking access during peak seasons (pre-wedding, pre-holiday).
- Pausing flexibility — if you travel or have a busy month, the slot carries forward without penalty.
- Referral credits for recommending new clients.
Over a year, the membership saves $300 versus pay-per-session plus additional retail savings. For clients who were already planning monthly anyway, the membership is straightforward maths.
How we decide at consultation
Every cadence conversation at Bravo MedSpa covers four factors:
Current skin state, your goals (maintenance vs improvement), your visibility profile (camera work, social calendar, event density), and your home skincare routine. Strong home routines reduce the need for frequent professional treatments; weaker routines increase it.
We're straightforward about recommending the cadence that fits. A client with dry mature skin and a solid home routine doesn't need monthly — we'll recommend quarterly or even bi-monthly. A client with active acne and no consistent home routine benefits from monthly. We'd rather get your cadence right on the first try than sign you up to something that doesn't match your actual needs.
