CoolSculptingElite,onourterms.
We run the Elite platform, dual-applicator, under our Medical Director. We're direct about what this tool is — and equally direct about what it isn't. No package pressure. No weight-loss framing. No over-promising.
Let's address the elephant first
PAH — the 0.0051% complication most clinics won't mention.
If you've spent any time researching CoolSculpting, you've probably seen the horror stories. Linda Evangelista's settlement. Before/after photos that went in the wrong direction. Morning-show segments asking "is CoolSculpting safe?"
What they're describing is paradoxical adipose hyperplasia — PAH — a complication where the treated zone develops more fat instead of less. The FDA-reported incidence is 0.0051%. That's roughly 1 in 20,000 cycles. To put it in perspective: you are more likely to be struck by lightning in your lifetime than to develop PAH from a single CoolSculpting cycle.
When PAH happens, it requires liposuction to correct. The risk is higher in men (about 3× the female rate), clients of Hispanic heritage, and abdomen treatments. We screen for all three at consultation and discuss it openly.
We didn't build this practice to hide clinical risks. If a clinic walks you through CoolSculpting pricing without ever mentioning PAH, you're in the wrong clinic. The standard of care is full disclosure — of PAH, of numbness duration, of the 1–4 week nerve response in the treated zone, of the fact that results at week two look worse before they look better because of swelling.
I'd rather lose a CoolSculpting booking to someone who decides the 1-in-20,000 risk isn't for them than earn the booking by downplaying it.

Why we offer CoolSculpting anyway.
Because for 19,999 out of 20,000 clients, it works. 20–25% permanent fat cell destruction per cycle per zone. No anaesthesia, no incisions, no weeks off work. You come in at 10am, you leave at 11:30, you're at your desk by noon with a slight numb zone and no one at the office knows what you did during lunch.
For the client who's done the work — lost the weight, done the workouts, cleaned up the diet — and still has a specific pocket that won't go, CoolSculpting is the only non-surgical tool that actually destroys the fat cells. Not shrinks them. Not temporarily reduces them. Destroys them. They don't come back.
That result matters because of what the alternative is. The alternative is lipo — real surgery, real anaesthesia, real risk. Most of our CoolSculpting clients considered lipo and walked away from it. We'd rather they stay in our world, understand the 0.0051% honestly, and get the outcome that's right for their life.
How it works
Cold in, fat cells out.
The Elite applicator draws subcutaneous fat tissue into the cup via suction. The applicator cools the tissue to -11°C and holds it there for 35 minutes.
Fat cells are more temperature-sensitive than surrounding tissue. At that temperature, they crystallise and initiate apoptosis — programmed cell death. Nerves, skin, and muscle pass through the same cold unaffected because their cellular membranes respond differently.
Over the 8–12 weeks following treatment, your lymphatic system clears the dead cells. The zone reduces in size permanently, because those specific cells do not regenerate.
The Elite system (introduced 2021) delivers two applicators simultaneously, which is how we treat both flanks or both inner thighs in a single 35-minute sitting. The older single-applicator CoolSculpting required two separate sessions for the same result — slower, less efficient, and priced higher per zone. We only run Elite.
Nine FDA-cleared zones
Where CoolSculpting Elite is cleared to treat — and how we approach each.
Zone 01
Lower abdomen
Most-booked. Dual applicators cover both sides in one visit.
Zone 02
Upper abdomen
Paired with lower abdomen almost always.
Zone 03
Flanks
The 'love handle' zone. Dual-applicator, 35 min.
Zone 04
Inner thigh
The chafe zone. Sometimes needs two cycles.
Zone 05
Outer thigh
Saddlebag reduction. Pairs with RF tightening.
Zone 06
Banana roll
Under-glute fat pocket. Often missed elsewhere.
Zone 07
Bra line
Back fat at the bra strap. Positioning-specific applicator.
Zone 08
Upper arm
Above-elbow. Slower clearance. Pair with RF afterward.
Zone 09
Submental (chin)
The double chin. CoolMini applicator. Alternative to Kybella.
If you're deciding between tools
CoolSculpting vs CoolTone vs Kybella — honest decision matrix.
Three different body-contouring tools, three different mechanisms, three different right-answers depending on what you're trying to solve. This is the matrix I walk every consultation through.
| CoolSculpting | CoolTone | Kybella | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it targets | Subcutaneous fat (destroys cells) | Muscle tissue (builds tone) | Submental fat only (destroys cells) |
| Mechanism | Cold (-11°C) | Magnetic pulse contraction | Deoxycholic acid injection |
| Sessions needed | 1–2 cycles per zone | 6 sessions over 3 weeks | 2–4 sessions, 6 weeks apart |
| Downtime | Numbness 1–4 weeks, no activity limit | None (soreness next day) | Significant swelling 3–5 days per session |
| Time to full result | 8–12 weeks | 3 months post-series | 6 months after final session |
| Pick it when | You want a specific fat pocket permanently gone | Fat is gone, now you want the muscle underneath | Double-chin specifically, and you prefer needles to cold |
| Cost starts at | $750 per cycle | $600 per session | $650 per vial |
Most of our complete body-contouring clients use at least two of these. CoolSculpting first to remove fat, CoolTone 8–12 weeks later to rebuild muscle in the same zone. For chin specifically, we'll walk through Kybella vs CoolSculpting at consultation — the right answer depends on your skin tone, anatomy, and tolerance for either swelling or numbness.

Being direct about it
What CoolSculpting is not.
It is not weight loss. We will not book you if your primary goal is to drop weight. CoolSculpting reduces specific fat pockets; it does not change your weight on the scale. If a clinic is selling you a "CoolSculpting weight-loss plan," they're either misleading you or misleading themselves.
It is not a scale-reduction tool. A 20% fat-cell reduction in your lower abdomen might translate to half a pound. You'll see the change in the mirror; you will not see a significant change on the scale. Manage that expectation up front.
It is not a skin-tightening tool. If fat loss reveals loose skin underneath — common in post-pregnancy abdomen, post-GLP-1 weight loss, or age-related laxity — we add RF skin tightening to the plan. CoolSculpting alone does not address the skin.
It is not a muscle-building tool. That's what CoolTone is for. If you want a defined core after the fat is gone, you book both.
It is not a substitute for clinical judgment. We will not treat clients with cryoglobulinemia, paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria, cold urticaria, Raynaud's syndrome, or active hernia in the treatment zone. Our Medical Director reviews every intake. We turn away 10–15% of consultation bookings because CoolSculpting is not the right tool for the body in the room.
Pricing
Per-cycle, flat. No packages you can't exit.
Single cycle, one applicator: $750. Most common for small zones (submental, banana roll, bra line).
Dual cycle, two applicators simultaneously: $1,400. Most common for abdomen, flanks, or bilateral thighs — both sides treated in one 35-minute sitting.
Multi-zone plan: From $3,500 for 4+ cycles mapped at consultation. Built around your specific anatomy and goals. Payment-plan available via CareCredit at 0% for 6 months.
Every plan is quoted in writing before you consent. We do not run "buy 4 get 1 free" structured bundles because they incentivise treating zones you don't actually need treated. If you want 4 cycles, you pay 4 cycles. Ethics over retention margin.
Founder's note
"I started Bravo because I'd seen too many practices treat CoolSculpting like a commodity product — sell the cycle, collect the money, handle the 1-in-20,000 complication through whatever legal department happened to be on retainer. We do it the other way. The consent conversation is longer than the treatment. The consultation rejections are real. The Medical Director signs off on every file. That's what licensing as a medical practice is supposed to mean."

Two locations
CoolSculpting Elite at both Bravo locations.
Both West Hartford and Rocky Hill run the Elite platform. Our CoolSculpting technicians rotate weekly between both locations. Medical Director reviews happen at either.
Post-GLP-1 clients: if you've lost weight on semaglutide or tirzepatide and are within 15 lbs of your plateau, the Bravo Reset package pairs CoolSculpting with CoolTone and RF skin tightening across 6 months — saves $650 vs à la carte.
