Red and blue LED light therapy at Bravo MedSpa Connecticut

Quick answer

LED light therapy at Bravo MedSpa uses clinical-grade panels delivering red light at 633 nm (for collagen and anti-ageing) and blue light at 415 nm (for acne and antimicrobial action).

Sessions are 20 minutes, zero downtime, and safe for every skin type. Delivered by Diana Lee. Included as a finishing step on microneedling, DiamondGlow, and most post-procedure recovery protocols.

Why clients book LED

The gentlest real treatment we offer.

LED isn't flashy. It doesn't produce dramatic before-and-afters on day one. But consistent weekly LED genuinely moves the needle on acne, inflammation, and collagen — and it's zero risk.

01

Active acne that topicals can't control

Blue light (415 nm) is antimicrobial against P. acnes bacteria. Two-to-three weekly sessions for 4–6 weeks significantly reduce active breakouts.

02

Chronic inflammation and rosacea flares

Red light at 633 nm reduces cytokine activity and calms inflammatory response. Many rosacea clients schedule weekly LED as a maintenance strategy.

03

Post-microneedling / laser recovery

LED's anti-inflammatory and collagen-stimulating wavelengths accelerate healing after aggressive treatments. We include 15 minutes after every RF microneedling session.

04

Anti-ageing maintenance between other treatments

Red light stimulates fibroblast activity over time. Weekly sessions between quarterly RF microneedling amplify and maintain the collagen response.

How it works

Photons in, cellular response out.

01

Specific wavelengths absorbed by cells

633 nm red light is absorbed by mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase. 415 nm blue is absorbed by porphyrins inside P. acnes bacteria.

02

Cellular response (photobiomodulation)

Red light triggers ATP production increase and fibroblast activity. Blue light creates reactive oxygen species that kill bacteria without damaging skin.

03

Cumulative cellular response

Unlike ablative treatments, LED is additive. Consistent weekly sessions build a cumulative response — this is why LED is protocol-based, not event-based.

The wavelengths

Two wavelengths. Real cellular response.

LED's safety profile is part of the appeal — no UV, no heat damage, no photosensitivity. Safe on every skin type and (with exceptions) during pregnancy.

Wavelength options

Pick your concern — the light matches.

Red light — anti-ageing

633 nm. Collagen stimulation, inflammation reduction, post-procedure healing. Our most-used wavelength.

Blue light — acne control

415 nm. Antimicrobial against P. acnes. Best for oily, breakout-prone skin. 6–8 weekly sessions for acne control.

Combined panels

Most treatment chairs combine both wavelengths in alternating or simultaneous mode. Great for mixed concerns (acne + ageing).

Post-procedure add-on

15 minutes of LED after RF microneedling, DiamondGlow, or laser sessions. Calms inflammation, accelerates healing.

What happens at your session

The Bravo LED session.

01

Cleanse

Makeup and skincare removed. Clean, dry skin only — products can absorb LED energy or reflect it.

02

Wavelength selection

Diana selects red, blue, or combined based on today's goal. Weekly protocols alternate wavelengths for mixed concerns.

03

Eye protection

Protective goggles — LED at these wavelengths is safe but eye exposure at short distances is avoided as precaution.

04

LED exposure (20 min)

You recline under the panel. No sensation other than warmth. Many clients nap. Music optional.

05

Post-session serum

A light hydrating serum or sunscreen applied depending on what's next in your day. No other aftercare needed.

06

Weekly cadence

LED works best on a consistent weekly schedule for the first 8 weeks of a protocol, then maintenance of 2–4 times per month.

Results timeline

When LED shows up in the mirror.

1

Day 0

Session 1

Subtle warmth during session. Mild after-glow. Cumulative response hasn't started yet.

2

First changes

Week 3–4

Acne clients: 30–50% fewer active lesions. Anti-ageing clients: subtle firmness and glow.

3

Full response

Week 8

Acne series typically completes. Anti-ageing clients see ongoing collagen build.

4

Maintenance

Ongoing

Weekly LED as part of the Bravo Glow plan. Complements monthly DiamondGlow and quarterly RF microneedling.

5

Integrated

Long-term

Over months of consistent sessions, collagen and inflammation markers show cumulative improvement. This is the LED payoff.

Eligibility

Almost everyone — with a few rare exceptions.

Who it's for

  • Acne-prone skin of any severity
  • Early-stage ageing and collagen maintenance
  • Inflammation (rosacea flare, post-procedure, general redness)
  • Post-microneedling / post-laser recovery
  • Fitzpatrick I–VI
  • Anyone wanting zero-risk maintenance treatment

Not right for

  • Photosensitising medications (certain antibiotics, Accutane)
  • History of seizures triggered by flashing light (rare with LED)
  • Active herpes simplex outbreak in the zone
  • Certain autoimmune flares (lupus, porphyria)
  • Pregnancy — abdominal zone avoided
  • Open wounds or active skin infection

LED is the gentlest real treatment we have. It doesn't produce the drama some clients chase. But for acne, inflammation, and quiet collagen maintenance, consistent weekly LED outperforms many flashier options.

Hartford & Rocky Hill

Connecticut's zero-downtime glow maintenance.

LED is the session Bravo clients book between other treatments. The WeHa lunch-hour crowd runs LED weekly at 12:15pm — in, recline, 20 minutes, out, back to the office without changing clothes or routine.

Many Rocky Hill membership clients pair weekly LED with monthly DiamondGlow for the baseline Bravo Glow rhythm. Our holiday glow-up protocol maps the 6-week sequence.

Available at both West Hartford and Rocky Hill.

LED Light Therapy

Common questions

Yes — LED photobiomodulation is well-studied for specific uses. Red light for wound healing and collagen stimulation has Level-1 evidence. Blue light for acne is FDA-cleared and evidence-backed. Anti-ageing effects from consistent weekly red light are supported by dermatological literature, though the effect is gradual, not dramatic.
